As you may have read in one of my previous posts about turmeric – I think its amazing! (You can go read the fantastic story I heard about turmeric in my previous post, Turmeric Porridge). Its something I want to try and get more into my daily/weekly diet, so heres a drink that gets a good amount in and tastes delicious! There’s a good helping of yoghurt in this recipe, which is great as it contains lots of healthy bacteria that are good for our guts! But you can easily swap out the yoghurt for a vegan friendly option. You will need some sort of blender for this, I use a NutriBullet.
Recipe
- 1 chunk of fresh turmeric root about an inch thick and long (can use ground turmeric if you don’t have root)
- 3 dessert spoons natural yoghurt
- 1/2 mug coconut milk
- 1 banana
Warning: Handling the turmeric will turn your fingers yellow! You may want to wear latex gloves or use a bit of cling film to cover your hand.
Chop the skin off the turmeric root, discard and cut inside into small pieces, pop in blender. Add in the yoghurt and coconut milk. Break the banana into a few small pieces, add to the blender and blend for a couple of minutes until the mix has gone a yellow colour and there don’t seem to be any chunks.
Enjoy!
